Chairmans Report 18th May 2025

Hello and welcome to the new format Crimond raceway web site. It was launched just in time for my first online report. As I stated in the last report, we will not be having a physical programme unless it is for a championship meeting where a bigger A4 format programme will be available.

The new web site is still being finalised in certain area’s so please bear with us, but the main parts are up and running.

Our last meeting was on a Saturday to accommodate the Racewall who had to change their normal Saturday to a Sunday to accommodate the visiting Brisca Hotstox formula who were doing their Scottish weekend with Lochgelly on the Saturday and Racewall on Sunday. It is all back to our normal Sunday meeting with our only other Saturday meeting being part of our big Brisca Championship weekend on July 26/27th.

We had an excellent turn out of Saloonstox at the last meeting with 17 cars on track for their first race. Plenty of fast action from them in every race with the bumpers being used as and when required. Some of them must have been trying out their cars for the SSCA Scottish championship the following week at the Racewall where there were 32 cars on track for the big race. Graeme Shevill #661 was the winner after an eventful race.

As part of the same meeting at the Racewall the ORCI British Stock rod championship was up for grabs where ex Crimond raceway Ministox driver, Jamie Dawson #165, came out the winner. Well done to Jamie, well deserved after being so close to winning a few other championships last year.

It is hard to believe but it is ten years since we lost young Ministox driver Keir Miller and last Saturday saw the annual running of his special meeting at its now permanent home of the Racewall. The Ministox disco team had done an excellent job of doing the pre-race organising of a parade and special photos being taken and a balloon release. The drivers started in drawn graded order for this race which was won by David Phillip Jnr #29 whose name will now go onto the very special Keir Miller trophy.

Today here at Crimond raceway we have the annual running of the Norman Cowie trophies for all formula’s apart from the Brisca Micro F2’s. The Cowie family stood down from sponsoring this event after over twenty years. In 2024 the club felt it should carry on in remembrance to Norman, so we now supply all the trophies for today’s meeting.

Formulas competing today for the Norman Cowie trophies today are, Brisca F2, Saloonstox, Hot Saloons, Big Bangers & Ministox.

Our next meeting on June 1st will see the return of the JBA Junior Bangers along with the Saloonstox, Brisca Micro F2’s, Hot saloons, Big Bangers and Prostock Basic’s.

Here we are almost into June already, time just seems to fly past these days. Must be getting old.

That’s all for today, see you all next time. Enjoy your racing.
